Telawaa: Blunder!

On TELAWAA(The English Language Academy With Ayo Alonge)

Someone said:

"The kids have to buckle up for serious studies, after COVID-19."

Caution:
The correct phrase is actually "buckle down".

To "buckle down" means to get serious with an activity; to give in one's best; to try harder; to perform better.

So, the correct expression should be:
"The kids have to buckle down for serious studies, after COVID-19."

May I repeat, it's "buckle down".

Note:
What then is "buckle up"?

To "buckle up" only means to "belt up" or "fasten your seat belt".
