Although Akeredolu did not appear before the house in person, the budget was forwardeded to the House of Assembly though one of his
aides.
Journalists and members of the public who had converged on the House of Assembly complex to witness the budget presentation were disappointed as the Governor failed to come.
Many of those who were in the house to witness the budget presentation left at 12.30pm when it became clear that the governor would not formally present the budget to the Assembly.
However, at about 2.00pm it was gathered that the budget was forwarded to the House of Assembly by the governor.
It was however not certain whether members of the Assembly held their plenary yesterday to deliberate on the budget or the budget was only forwarded to the House through the Speaker, Hon Bamidele Oloyelogun.
But a statement issued by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Mr Segun Ajiboye indicated that the Governor forwarded a budget of #N169, 720,580,000.00 to the House of Assembly for approval.
According to the statement, the Assembly is expected to deliberate on the budget, which is the first of the Akeredolu-led administration and invite the various Ministries, Department and Agencies to defend the budget after which the assembly will pass it into law.
Although the breakdown of the budget was not included in the statement, it was learnt that the budget will cater for all the sectors of the economy.
Akeredolu who assumed office in February this year has since been operating without a budget, as his predecessor, Dr Olusegun Mimiko could not present budget to the House before he left office as a result of the leadership crisis that engulfed the house at the tail end of his administration.
