The Headies Awards 2015 has come and gone but will definitely be the most talked about Award in the year, 2016. First, it was shifted from December 30th, 2015 and re-scheduled to the start of a new year January 1st, 2016.
Second, as usual the show started late in the night and how beautiful it was when I saw the stage but suddenly got disappointed at the empty seats as at midnight.
Social media went viral for obviously starting the show late as usual but that was just the tip of the iceberg. Co-hosts of the event were Kaffy and Bovi, kaffy thrilled us to beautiful performances with her dance moves while Bovi the comedian, did a perfect job giving us rib cracking jokes.
High points of the event was when the most anticipated "Next Rated" category winner turned out to be Reekado Banks leaving the most preferred candidates like LilKesh and Kiss Daniel and even his label mate, Korede Bello out.
Just when Reekado was about rejoicing he won the Next Rated category, Bovi came on stage to do the mistake Steve Harvey did during Miss World Pageant calling the wrong winner and said he meant Reekado Banks not Reekado Blanks. Then, Reekado Banks threw his jacket at him to chase him off the stage.
But you needed to see Lilkesh’s look while Reekado was trying to hug him to calm him down but it obviously didn’t go down well with YBNL label group owned by Olamide Adedeji aka baddosneh.
Minutes later, came the award for Best Alternative Song which Adekunle Gold won and all the YBNL label group followed him to the stage including Olamide. After Adekunle Gold appreciated the fans, Lilkesh prostrated for Olamide and I think that obviously gingered Olamide to speak up when he was given the Mic. Olamide said, "Lilkesh is our Next Rated" and went on to say “Fuck the Show”.
Then erupted another saga when Don Jazzy while receiving his special recognition award mentioned that, "Egbon Olamide, if you want the car, come and collect it". This line of words infuriated Olamide and this made him respond via tweets below.
Olamide's tweet that #LeaveTrashForLarma" inspired the T-shirt below.
What an annoying act Dija put up when Don Jazzy was leaving the stage and she was busy jumping and clapping while Korede Bello kept a straight face.
Lest I forget, I actually expected Sesan to win the Best Video Director Award category because of his efforts on Davido’s song, “The Sound” who actually skydived and was being videoed dancing in a moving car. Those were amazing video shots that should have paved way to get an award.
Another high point was when Timi Dakoko carted away with 3 awards beating superstars like, Wizkid and Olamide while Yemi Alade won the award for Hip Hop world revelation. Then, songstress, Eva Alordiah got engaged on stage to her boo while they shared a passionate kiss.
