Govt Of Osun Inaugurates Commission To Address Chieftaincy Disputes

Governor of Osun, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola has inaugurated a seven man Judicial Commission of Enquiry into all disputed Chieftaincy declarations and allied chieftaincy matters in the state.
Performing the inauguration of the commission which has as its chairman Hon. Justice Abdulrazak Abdulkareem at the exco lounge of the governor's office, the governor charged the commission not to allow any interest apart from that of the state to influence their judgement on any matter that will be brought before them. 

He described the assignment given to the commission as very sensitive and critical, saying they are expected to work with all sincererity and integrity.

Ogbeni Aregbesola who stressed that the state expects the best from the commission, said that a lot of ridiculous issues on the chieftaincy declarations have been seen and heard which the commission should critically examine and streamline.

He added that the commission is also expected to look into the issue of traditional councils and several related matters to chieftaincy in the state, saying they will need to have wide consultations with people who are repositories or custodians of facts about chieftaincy matters in Yoruba land.

He impolred the commission not to fail themselves and the state in the caurse of discharging their duties.

In his address, the Chairman of the commission, Hon. Justice Abdulrazak Abdulkareem pledged the commission's sincererity in the discharge of their duties, saying all parties in controversy will be given the opportunity to present their case.
He gave the assurance that all investigations will be pursued with an open mind and withouth any appearance of prejudice or being partial to any party.

Justice Abdulkareem added that the commission will start by inviting memorander from all interested persons and everyone with relevant information to make prsentation to the commission.

Other members of the commission include: Mr E.O. Amusan, Mr Y.O Ibiloye, Barr. Leye Falode, Barr. A.A. Fadiora others are Mr A Sonibare and Mrs E.A. Akingbenjo.
