Unpaid Salaries: OAUTH Doctors Set To Join Osun Counterparts On Solidarity Strike

Members of Association of Resident Doctors and consultants at the Obafemi Awolowo University Teaching Hospital, Ile Ife will join the striking workers in Osun State in a solidarity strike to press home the demand of the Osun doctors.

The Chairman of the NMA, Dr. Suraj Ogunyemi, who said this in a communique made available to journalists in Osogbo on Friday also said local government doctors in the state would also join the warning strike which would begin next Wednesday and end on Friday.

The warning strike will be preceded by a mass protest by all doctors from OSAMDO House to the House of Assembly on Tuesday.

The communique read, " Arising from the emergency general meeting to deliberate on the issues of no aid salaries and other issues pertaining to the welfare of doctors and their work environment, the following resolutions were made;

" That a peaceful protest rally would be staged from OSAMDO House to the Osun State House of Assembly on Tuesday February 16, 2016 by 9:00am.

" That local government doctors working with Osun State, residents and consultants working with Obafemi Awolowo University Teaching Hospital, Ile Ife will join the ongoing industrial action from 00:00 hour Wednesday February 17, 2016 till Friday 19, 2016."

Members of the ARD at LAUTECH Teaching Hospital and their colleagues at the Osun State Association of Medical and Dental Officers had declared an indefinite strike since September 28, 2015 over the payment of half salaries to the doctors by the workers.
