Ondo state Governor, Dr Olusegun Mimiko has declared that his administration has fulfilled all his electioneering campaign promises, especially in the education sector.
The Governor noted specifically that his government has fulfilled his promises in the Mega Primary Schools Initiative he introduced seven years ago, saying that the initiative was a promise fulfilled.
He said his administration made a concerted effort to break the traditional jinx of lopsidedness in access to qualitative education between the children of the rich and the poor, saying that before his intervention, the children of the poor had to make do with the public schools, while the children of the rich received early education in cozy environment.
Speaking at the commissioning of new classrooms built in different schools across the state, Mimiko said "we took the bull by the horns, we came up with a creative and well thought - out idea of a long lasting and enduring legacy that could make a difference in design, structure and in outlook."
He said "this marks the beginning of a new era, an era that puts both the rich and the poor together on a common platform".
Apparently savouring the joy of the successful initiative, Mimiko said "this is our home - grown idea of a near perfect study and learning environment, we can beat our chest, that we are close to our destination, a destination that show case an unprecedented educational development, using the basic education as our benchmark."
He emphasized that the equipment and facilities in the Mega Schools will help lay a very solid foundation for the education Industry in the state.
Mimiko said ”when we commenced the journey about seven years ago, we inherited a good number of multiple sectoral problems that were yearning for urgent attention. We were faced with enormous challenges in virtually all sectors. Our people wore frowned faces, but we promised we would put Smiles on their faces, as we determined to work for them".
"Today, we have good stories to tell, as we have good score cards to show case our achievements in all the sectors," he posited.
