BEB Diary – The Contact

Picture Source - Google (Just For Illustration)

I used to have a friend in my primary school days; in fact she was my best friend. We had so many things in common and used to buy same clothes and shoes, that our others friends would call us “twins”. Along the line, we lost contact when my family and I relocated to a new city.

It was not until about twenty five years later did we meet again. We bumped into each other at a Mall while she was trying to look for the lingerie section and I happened to have been there at the section same time. I just suddenly noticed someone tapped me and I was about lambasting the person when the person said, “Sorry, please your face looks familiar”, “How?”, “Are you not Moyo Adebisi?”, “Yes I'm the one, why do you ask”. “Do you remember anyone by the name, Anu Philips?”, “Yes I do, and the person was my primary school mate”. “Well, I’m Anu Philips” she said. I was like, “Like seriously? Where have you been? What have you been up to?” It’s good to see you again Moyo after such a long time, she said. We exchanged contacts and left.

We later met two weeks later at a restaurant where she told me about herself and her business. She introduced me to her business of buying and selling of lace materials and almost duped me. It was my husband that said she knows her very well her when she came visiting later that weekend in my home. "It was my business associate she duped of imported printing materials, which she collected money for but didn't deliver", my hubby said.

Since she duped him, she has been at large and police have been looking for her and true to my husband’s words I caught her trying to dupe me too, telling me to pay 70% upfront before getting the lace materials, who does that? We handed her over to the police and she was later charged to court for fraud.

My people, be careful of the kinds of friends you associate with, most especially old time friends who you don’t know what kind of person or persons they have changed into since you last saw. Study the old friends before you move them closer to you or better still run away from them.

This story is fiction and characters mentioned don't represent any person in real life. It's just to illustrate and give better understanding of how we should learn to relate with old time friends who we meet again after such a long time.
