A 42 year old man identified as Samuel Omosaba has been arrested by the Police for allegedly beheading his three year old niece, Adunbarin Kola.
The incident, which happened on Tuesday evening at Ilepa quarters in Ikare-Akoko, Akoko North East Local Government Area of Ondo State has thrown the town in mourning.
The Suspect was said to have contacted a spiritualist in Ipe-Akoko for rituals to make money, hence his alleged resolve to kill his niece .
It was gathered that the spiritualist asked Omosaba to provide the head of a young child be be used as ritual for him to get rich.
It was learnt that the deceased was always with Omosaba anytime his grandmother who he was living with travelled.
The suspect was said to have confessed to the family members that he killed the girl for ritual purposes.
He was nearly lynched by aggrieved youths in the community before the police came to his rescue.
The State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Mr. Femi Joseph, who confirmed the incident said the matter had been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (CID) Akure for further investigation.
