No fewer than 50 persons have signified their intention to contest the next Governorship election in Ondo state under the platform of the All progressives Congress (APC) and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Also, the state chapter of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) has expressed its readiness to field a candidate for the Governorship election.
In the PDP alone, not less than 20 people have signified their intention to contest the election, while in the APC 30 people have already shown interest in the election.
Also, a former Minister of Power and Steel, Dr Olu Agunloye has signified his intention to contest the election on the platform of the SDP.
Prominent among those vying for the Governorship position in the PDP are the incumbent Commissioner for Justice and Attorney General of the state, Mr Eyitayo Jegede (SAN),former Special Adviser to the President on Niger/Delta affairs, Hon Kingsley Kuku and the Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Mrs Jumoke AKindele.
In the APC, the prominent contestants are former Commissioner for Justice in the state, Mrs Jumoke Anifowose, th Senator representing Ondo North Senatorial district, Professor Ajayi Borrofice, former
Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Hon Victor Olabimtan and Chief Rotimi Akeredolu
It was however gathered that efforts are on top gear by the leaderships of both the PDP and APC in the state to organize primary election for all their aspirants.
It was gathered that the primary election of the two political parties may hold in May in line with the guidelines of the parties.
The political situation in the state has however been hot up following preparation for the primary election of the two major parties.
