Lewandoski breaks Bundesliga goal scoring record

Bayern Munich's Robert Lewandowski scored in the last minute of the season to break Gerd Muller's 49-year record of Bundesliga goals in a campaign.

Lewandowski looked poised to be frustrated but pounced in the 90th minute for his 41st goal of the season.

The Poland striker now has 53 goals in 46 games for club and country heading into Euro 2020.

The home side scored four times in the first half against Augsburg with Manuel Neuer also saving a penalty.

Suarez scores winner as Atletico beat Real to La Liga title

Luis Suarez said he was grateful to Atletico Madrid for "trusting in me" as his winning goal helped them edge city rivals Real Madrid to the La Liga title in dramatic fashion.

Diego Simeone's men trailed to Oscar Plano's strike for Real Valladolid but they turned the match around in the second half through an Angel Correa goal and Suarez's coolly taken effort.

Although Real scored twice late on to beat Villarreal 2-1, they came up short as they needed Atletico to drop points.

Atletico clinched their first title in seven years - and 11th overall - by finishing two points ahead of defending champions Real, who end the season without a trophy.

WBO orders Joshua to face challenger Usyk

Anthony Joshua has been ordered to defend his WBO heavyweight title against mandatory challenger Oleksandr Usyk after the collapse of his bout with fellow Briton Tyson Fury.

Joshua, who also holds the IBF and WBA belts, had agreed to face WBC champion Fury in Saudi Arabia.

But an arbitration hearing ruled Fury must first face Deontay Wilder.

Joshua's promoter had been given 48 hours to show why a fight with Usyk should not be mandated.

Eddie Hearn requested an extension until Monday to the "show cause" notice in order to "discuss the subject matter and other related affairs" with Joshua, but Usyk's team objected.

The WBO sided with the Ukrainian former undisputed world cruiserweight champion, who had previously agreed to step aside to allow the Joshua-Fury super fight to go ahead, and said in a statement on its website: "The extension request is hereby denied."

As a result, the two fighters and their teams have until 31 May to reach an agreement for a fight or purse bids will be called.

State of Emergency won’t stop Olympic Games say IOC

This summer's Olympics will go ahead even if Tokyo remains in a state of a emergency, says International Olympic Committee vice-president John Coates.

Japan's capital is one of nine prefectures under a state of emergency until 31 May at the earliest because of the coronavirus pandemic.

It was brought in because of a rise in cases, which has since started to fall.

"We've successfully seen five sports hold their test events during the state of emergency," Coates said.
"All of the plans that we have in place to protect the safety and security of athletes and the people of Japan are based around the worst possible circumstances, so the answer [to whether the Games could take place during a state of emergency] is absolutely yes.
"The advice we have got from the World Health Organisation and all of the scientific advice, is that all the measures we have outlined in the playbook, all those measures are satisfactory to ensure a safe and secure Games in terms of health, and that's whether there is a state of emergency or not."
Recent polls in Japan have shown nearly 70% of the population do not want the Olympics, which starts on 23 July, to go ahead.

Japan has long insisted there was no question the Games, which should have taken place last summer, would be held and will be safe.
