Leicester Sack Ranieri

Claudio Ranieri has been sacked by Leicester City, nine months after lifting the Premier League trophy.

The Foxes are just a single point outside of the Premier League relegation places, having won the title last season.

Thai owners took this decision with a heavy heart, but felt the possibility of them being relegated was "unacceptable".

The board expected a bounce in form after giving the Italian a public vote of confidence a fortnight ago offering their "unwavering support".

But we understand the owners felt there hadn't been a noticeable improvement and were left with no option but to dismiss him.

Real Suffer Second League Defeat Of Season

Leaders Real Madrid suffered just their second La Liga loss of the season in a shock defeat against Valencia.

Former West Ham striker Simone Zaza opened the scoring for the hosts with a spectacular strike and Fabian Orellana doubled the lead before Cristiano Ronaldo pulled a goal back.

Ronaldo could have snatched a point late on, but failed to hit the target with his looping header.
Zinedine Zidane's side remain one point clear of Barcelona with a game in hand.

Budapest To Pull Out Of 2024 Olympic Bid

Budapest's hopes of springing a surprise in the race to host the 2024 Olympics and Paralympics appear to be over after the Hungarian government said "the only responsible decision" was to pull out.

The decision, which will be formally confirmed by Budapest's city assembly, comes after more than 260,000 people signed a petition against the bid, saying the money should be spent on hospitals and schools.

Budapest's exit leaves the field clear to Los Angeles and Paris and means the Hungarian capital becomes the fourth candidate to withdraw from bidding to host the 2024 Games, following Boston, Hamburg and Rome.

It's Over For Woods

Pat Perez believes Tiger Woods "knows he can't beat anybody" and predicted we could have seen the last of him this season, and possibly for good.

Woods is expected to issue a statement on his condition on Friday after his back problems flared up again following a first-round 77 at the Dubai Desert Classic earlier this month, a week after he missed the cut in the Farmers Insurance Open.

The 14-time major winner, who returned to competitive golf in December after almost 16 months out following back surgery, withdrew from the second round in Dubai and has since pulled out of the Genesis Open and this week's Honda Classic on medical advice.
