Kelechi Iheanacho on Thursday in London scored a late goal to deny the Teranga Lions of Senegal a famous victory against the Super Eagles in an international friendly.

An 82nd minute penalty kick scored by Iheanacho helped Nigeria secure a 1 - 1 draw in their friendly encounter at the Hives Stadium. Moussa Sow Had Given The Teranga

Lukas Podolski signed off his international career with a sensational strike as Germany inflicted England's first defeat under Gareth Southgate with a 1-0 win in Dortmund on Wednesday.

Podolski, making his 130th and final appearance for Germany, brought the curtain down on his career in style, thundering his 49th international goal home from 25 yards in the 69th minute to seal victory for the world champions.

Lewis Hamilton completed a dominant start to F1 2017's opening day as Mercedes threw off the shackles from winter testing in Practice for the Australian GP.

He was 0.547secs clear of Ferrari's Sebastian Vettel in second, who was just 0.009secs quicker than Hamilton's Mercedes team-mate Valtteri Bottas.
"He's in a league of his own at the moment,"
admitted Mercedes chief Toto WolffHamilton's margin over Bottas will raise questions over whether it is car or driver that has the advantage.

This is Bottas' first race for the Mercedes team after replacing world champion Nico Rosberg, who retired at the end of last season, and on the evidence of the first running of the new season the Finn is struggling to get on terms with Hamilton.

Federer Targets Better Ranking

Roger Federer improved his world ranking from No 10 to No 6 last week but is targeting an ever higher seeding as he chases more trophies.

Federer's wins at the Australian Open and Indian Wells have restored faith that he could recapture the world No 1 position, a goal that will be strengthened if he wins this week's Miami Open in the absence of Andy Murray and Novak Djokovic.

"I've been really happy with what I've been doing for four years, by staying in the top four and winning some big titles. Let's see what this year is going to bring." Federer told reporters.
