Hear what I heard, not quite long:
"The major thing is for both of you to understand yourself."
No, that's not correct, please!
It's "each other", not "yourself".
Say: "The major thing is for both of you to understand each other".
Some would even say "themselves".
e.g. "The major thing is for both of them to understand themselves".
It's "each other", but when more than two, say "one another".
I hope this is clear enough?
